The meeting of Peterborough
Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:00 p.m in
the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

Heritage Preservation Office Report

recommendation outlined in Report PACAC12-004, dated February 14, 2012 of the
Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:
That
the Heritage Preservation Office report with respect to the monthly activities
of the Heritage Preservation Office for January 2012, be received for
information.

Heritage Designations
Councillor
Pappas declared a pecuniary interest in the properties at 406-408 George Street
North as he owns property in close proximity. He did not discuss or vote on
the matter.

That the PACAC approve the
recommendation outlined in Report PACAC12- 005, dated February 14, 2012 of the
Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:
That the following
properties be recommended to Council for designation pursuant to Part IV of the
Ontario Heritage Act as being of cultural heritage value or interest: 175 George Street North –
The CPR Station; 184 London Street – The James Hope House; 285 A George Street
North; 406-408 George Street North – The James T. Henthorn Building; 430
Sheridan Street – The George Fitzgerald House.

PACAC12-006
PACAC Participation in Jane’s Walk Peterborough 2012

That the PACAC approve the
recommendations outlined in Report PACAC12-006, dated February 14, 2012 of the
Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:
a)
That
the PACAC participate in Jane’s Walk Peterborough through coordination of local
walks and,
b)
That
the PACAC provide financial support for promotion and coordination of the walks
up to a maximum of $3500.00 and,
c)
That
the funds for the event be drawn from the 2012 Doors Open budget and,
d)
That
the PACAC consider a partnership with the Peterborough Field naturalists to
organize this year’s event.

That two members from PACAC, namely
Kathryn McLeod and Gord Young, two members from the Peterborough Field
Naturalists and two members from the community at large form an ad-hoc
committee to organize Jane’s Walks in May 2012.

PACAC Historic House Tour 2012

recommendation outlined in Report PACAC12-007, dated February 14, 2012 of the
Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:

That
the PACAC organize a tour of historic structures in the fall of 2012.
Committee at its meeting of
February 14, 2012 added the following recommendation:
b)
That
Dennis Carter-Edwards be chair of an ad-hoc committee to organize the event.

Conserving Wood
Windows DVD
Moved by Martin Parker
That Committee purchase a
DVD on Conserving Wood Windows at a cost of $350.00 and make the DVD available
to the public through the library.

Copies of the Peterborough
Historical Society’s Annual Heritage Awards Nomination Form and the quarterly
publication of Community Heritage Ontario were distributed to Committee.
Committee discussed the
status of the purchase of the heritage designation plaques.
Councillor Pappas left the meeting at
8:01 p.m.
Committee discussed the
removal of the electrical turbines at Trent University and their historical
significance.
Agency Circulation For Shopper’s Drug Mart Development
Moved by Gord Young
That PACAC forward the agency
circulation for the downtown Shopper’s Drug Mart development to the Arts,
Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee (ACHAC), when received by PACAC and
include ACHAC’s comments when responding to the circulation.
