the minutes of the meeting of the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee
held on March
20, 2012 be
approved.

Sport Kawartha Update
That the Arenas Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC12-010
dated April 17, 2012 of the Director of Community Services, as follows:
That a presentation by Bill O’Byrne
from Sport Kawartha be received for information.

Skateboarding Concerns
That the Arenas Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC12-012
dated April 17, 2012 of the Director of Community Services, as follows:
a)
That
correspondence and delegations relating to skateboarding/longboarding concerns
be received; and
b) That the matter
be directed to Susan Sauve, the City’s Transportation Demand Management
Planner, for consideration during the planned Traffic By-law review;
c) That the
Transportation Demand Management Planner be invited to report on her
deliberations and recommendations at a future Arenas Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee.

Report APRAC12-011
Parks Priority Planning
That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC12-011 dated April
17, 2012 of the Director of Community Services, as follows:
That the report be received for
information and that the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee provide
feedback and direction relating to future development of existing parks.

Other Business
Moved by Gary Rabjohn
That staff review the matter of child
safety regarding the use Eastgate Park and traffic on Ashburnham Drive,
especially during soccer tournaments.
“CARRIED”
Gary Baldwin asked staff about the
long term plans for the areas adjacent to Eastgate Park on Ashburnham Drive and
the ability to develop sports fields in these areas.
Gary Baldwin inquired about Council’s
recommendation to implement a dog park at the Farmcrest site.
Gary Rabjohn left the meeting at 7:20
p.m.
The Director of Community Services indicated
that Council passed the Sustainability Plan.
The Chair requested Committee forward
potential agenda items to staff or herself.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Committee is
scheduled for May
15, 2012. Staff will consider an alternate venue for the meeting, such as the
Memorial Centre.
