Minutes of a Meeting of the Arts, Culture and Heritage
Advisory Committee held on September 14, 2017 in the Auditorium, Community
Services Office, 210 Wolfe Street.
The
meeting of the Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee was called to
order at 7:00 p.m. by Dennis Carter-Edwards, Chair in the Auditorium, Community
Services Office.

Report ACHAC17-041
Poet Laureate Pilot Project

the ACHAC endorse the recommendations outlined in Report ACHAC17-041 dated
September 14, of the Manager, Arts, Culture and Heritage Division, as follows:
a) That the Report
from the Manager, Arts, Culture and Heritage Division be received by ACHAC for information
and discussion;
b) That a Poet
Laureate Program for the City be introduced as a one-year pilot project pending
fundraising of $2,000 for the position; and,
c) That the Arts,
Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee administer the selection of the Poet
Laureate, monitoring and the evaluation of the project, and prepare an
evaluation report on the project for Council at the end of the pilot project.

Other Business
The
Public Art Advisory Committee (PAAC) currently has a vacancy. An advertisement
was published in the local papers, as well as the City’s website. The PAAC
Chair, indicated that volunteers from the Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory
Committee are needed to sit on the selection Committee. Councillor Pappas,
Dennis Carter-Edwards and Bruce Stonehouse volunteered to sit on the PAAC
selection Committee.
Next Meeting
The Chair indicated the next scheduled
meeting is October 12, 2017.
