The meeting of the Waste Management
Committee was called to order at 2:04 p.m. in the Council Chambers, City Hall.

Management Committee meeting held on June 24, 2013, be approved.

Demolition of 1211 Bensfort Road

That the Waste Management Committee
endorse the recommendations as outlined in Report WMC13-015, dated September
16, 2013 of the Director of Utility Services as follows:
a)
That
the County/City owned house at 1211 Bensfort Road be designated for demolition;
and
b)
That
the demolition be undertaken as soon as practicable in 2014 upon the current
tenant vacating the premises.

Committee Chair write a letter on behalf of the Committee to support staff
efforts, and the letter be forwarded to the Mayor and Warden requesting
support.

Mattress Recycling
Project – Implementation Plan

Committee endorse the recommendations as outlined in Report WMC13-014 dated September
9, 2013 of the Director of Utility Services as follows:
a)
That
staff be requested to proceed with implementation of the Mattress Recycling
Pilot Project at the Peterborough County/City Waste Management Facility as
detailed in Report WMC13-014; and
b)
That
staff be requested to report further to the Waste Management Committee on the
results of the Pilot Project identified in Recommendation (a) before proceeding
with the full Mattress Recycling Program.

That Report WMC13-017 dated
September 9, 2013 providing information on the Peterborough County/City Waste
Management Facility 2014 Draft Budget and 2013 Budget Actual Estimates be
received for information.

TSSA Inspection of
Peterborough County/City Waste Management Facility

That the Waste Management Committee
endorse the recommendations as outlined in Report WMC13-018 dated September 9,
2013, of the Director of Utility Services as follows:
a)
That
Report WMC13-018 dated September 9, 2013 providing updated information on the
inspection of the Peterborough County/City Waste Management Facility undertaken
by a representative of the Technical Standards and Safety Authority be received
for information; and
b)
That
Staff be requested to further update Committee as necessary on the matter of the
TSSA Inspection of the Peterborough County/City Waste Management Facility.
Staff indicated that Saturday,
September 21, 2013 is City/County Environment Day at the Bensfort Road Landfill
from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Next Meeting
The Chair indicated
that the next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for November 18, 2013.
