MINUTES OF A MEETING OF ARTS, CULTURE AND HERITAGE ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON NOVEMBER 12, 2009 IN THE SUTHERLAND ROOM, CITY HALL

 

The meeting of Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

That the minutes of the Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee meeting held on October 15, 2009 be approved.

Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest

 

There were no disclosures of interest.

 

 

Heritage Resources Coordinator

Report ACHAC09-001

Hunter Street Bridge Presentation by Director of Utility Services

 

Wayne Jackson, Director of Utility Services made a presentation regarding the Hunter Street Bridge.

 

Moved by Councillor Pappas

 

That the ACHAC approve the recommendations outlined in Report ACHAC09-001 dated November 12, 2009 of the Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)         That the presentation by the Director of Utility Services be received for information; and,

 

b)        That the ACHAC approve a motion recommending that the preservation of the heritage attributes of the Hunter Street Bridge be of paramount concern during the rehabilitation of the bridge.

Report CPCLKACHACH09-001

The Provision of Legislative Support to Advisory Committees of Council

 

Kevin Arjoon, Deputy Clerk, provided a presentation with respect to the legislative support to advisory committees of Council.

That Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report CPCLKACHAC09-001, dated November 12, 2009, of the City Clerk, as follows:

 

That the presentation by the Deputy Clerk, with respect to the provision of legislative support to Advisory Committees of Council, be received for information.

Heritage Resources Coordinator

Report ACHAC09-002

Municipal Cultural Planning Update

 

Moved by Councillor Pappas

 

That ACHAC approve the recommendation outlined in Heritage Resources Coordinator Report ACHAC09-002, dated November 12, 2009, of the, as follows:

 

That the Arts, Culture and Heritage Division report on the City’s Cultural Planning initiatives be received for information.

Other Business  

 

Market Hall Restoration

 

Councillor Pappas enquired about the Market Hall restoration. Becky Rogers, Manager of Arts Heritage and Culture advised that staff could invite Mary Gallop, Project Manager to attend a future ACHAC meeting to provide an update on the project.
