Minutes Of A Meeting Of Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Held On Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

 

The Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting was called to order by Gary Rabjohn, Chair at 5:30 p.m. in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

That the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC13-004 dated February 26, 2013, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)            That the following special events and activities occurring between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014 be approved as City sponsored, and be covered under the City’s insurance.

 

i)             Victoria Day Festivities in Del Crary Park

ii)            Canada Day Parade

iii)           Canada Day Multicultural Stage Show and Park Festivities in Del Crary Park, including required road closures

iv)          Artsweek

v)            Snofest Winter Carnival

vi)          Neighborhood Associations

vii)         Pathway of Fame

viii)        Annual Terry Fox Run at Nicholls Oval

2013 Special Occasion Permits

That the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee endorse the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC13-005 dated February 26, 2013, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

That the issuance of Special Occasions permits be supported for the following Sport Tournaments and Special Events occurring on City property, in accordance with the Liquor Licence Act, and the City of Peterborough Alcohol Management Policy:

 

i)             Slopitch Association – May Two-Four Tournament at Bowers Park on May 18 and 19, 2013

 

ii)            Slopitch Association – Slofest Slo-pitch Tournament at Morrow Park on June 29, 2013 and the Bowers Park on June 29 and June 30, 2013;

 

iii)           Peterborough Rugby Club – Various Events at Nicholls Oval Park- Dates to be announced;

 

iv)          A Taste of the Town at Millennium Park on July 1, 2013;

 

v)            Chamber Social at Millennium Park on July 4, 2013;

 

vi)          Peterborough Folk Festival at Nicholls Oval Park on August 24, 2013;

 

vii)         Wakeboarding Championship at Beavermead park from August 23 to 25, 2013;

 

viii)        Community Information Carnival (formerly Peterborough Pride Parade) at Millennium Park on September 14, 2013;

 

ix)          Various weddings/birthday celebrations at Nicholls Oval Park, Heritage Pavilion, and Millennium Park; and

 

x)            Ribfest at Millennium Park from July 12 to 14, 2013.

Other Business

 

A presentation regarding the setting and implementation of fees will be made at a future APRAC meeting.

 

A meeting will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 regarding the Del Crary Park neighbourhood.

The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for March 19, 2013.
