MINUTES OF A MEETING OF PETERBOROUGH ARCHITECTURAL CONSERVATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE HELD ON MARCH 9, 2010 IN THE SUTHERLAND ROOM, CITY HALL

 

The meeting of Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:00 p.m. in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

That the minutes of the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee meeting held on February 9, 2010 be approved.

Heritage Resources Coordinator

Report PACAC10-010

Turnbull Disaster Plaque Proposal

 

Moved by Councillor Pappas

 

 That the PACAC approve the recommendation outlined in Report PACAC10-010, dated March 9, 2010, of the Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:

 

That the Committee enter into negotiations with Seven Hills Developments, Inc. and the Peterborough Historical Society to create a bronze plaque commemorating the Turnbull Disaster.

 

“CARRIED”

 

 

Gord Young did not vote on the matter, and requested that his abstention from the vote be noted.

 

 

Heritage Resources Coordinator

Report PACAC10-009

Heritage Preservation Office Report

 

Moved by Sue McGregor-Hunter

 

That the PACAC approve the recommendation outlined in Report PACAC10-009, dated March 9, 2010, of the Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:

 

That the Heritage Preservation Office report with respect to the monthly activities of the Heritage Preservation Office for February 2010, be received for information.

Jane’s Walk Event

 

Moved by Christopher Gooderham

 

That the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee is supportive of a Jane’s Walk event in Peterborough.

Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee – Representation

 

Andre Vallillee advised that he could no longer be the PACAC representative on the Arts Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee. Erik Hanson, Heritage Resources Coordinator noted that the PACAC position would remain vacant at this time.



PACAC Newsletter

 

Geoffrey Eve noted that the PACAC newsletter has been printed. He canvassed Committee members to help distribute the PACAC newsletter.

 

Designation Sub-Committee

Verbal Report

 

Christopher Gooderham, Sue McGregor-Hunter, and Andre Vallillee indicated a conflict of interest, as the owner of the property is their employers’ landlord. Christopher Gooderham, Sue McGregor-Hunter and Andre Vallillee, did not participate in the discussion or vote on the matter.

That the properties located at 59, 61 and 63 Olive Street, are not worthy of heritage designation.

Places to Grow Act

 

Moved by Sue McGregor-Hunter

 

That staff be directed to provide a report regarding the impact of the Places To Grow Act on heritage properties within the City of Peterborough.
