the minutes of the meeting of the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory
Committee held on May

That the Arenas, Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee endorse the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC11-025
dated June 21, 2011, by the Parks & Forestry Supervisor, Public Works as
follows:
That the committee endorse a Capital
Budget Item for the years 2012–2021 that will fund the appropriate budget to
install backflow prevention and metering capabilities at a rate of two (2) ice
rink services per year for a ten year period. The recommended Capital Budget
Item is $40,000.00 per year.

Advisory Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC11-024
dated June 21, 2011, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:
That City staff be directed to assist
in the establishment of a Neighbourhood Association for the Nicholls Oval Park
neighbourhood.

Urban Ecology Centre
Cathy Dueck, Manager, Ecology Park and
Landscape Programs, Peterborough Green-Up made a presentation to Committee.
That the Arenas Parks and Recreation
Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC11-023
dated June 21, 2011, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:
a) That the
presentation by Peterborough Green-Up be received for information; and
b) That the proposal
to construct an Urban Ecology Centre in Peterborough be endorsed, in principle;
and
c) That Staff be
directed to investigate the viability of constructing the Centre, in the
proposed location, within Farm Crest Park.

That a presentation on the Beavermead
Campground Study from the Manager of Facilities and Special Projects be
received.

Other Business
The Director of Community Services
provided an update on the Urban Forest Strategic Plan.
The Director of
Community Services advised that there will be a special meeting of Arenas Parks
and Recreation Advisory Committee called to discuss the Morrow Park Master
Plan.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of the Committee is
scheduled for September
20, 2011.
