Minutes Of A Meeting Of Arenas, Parks And Recreation Advisory Committee Held On Tuesday, May 15, 2012  

 

The Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

Confirmation of Minutes – April 17, 2012

That the minutes of the meeting of the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee held on April 17, 2012 be approved.

Peterborough County City Health Unit Presentation on Smoke-Free Parks

 

Jane Hoffmeyer and Jenny Carr, Peterborough County City Health Unit made a presentation.

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC12-006 dated May 15, 2012, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

That a presentation by representatives of the Peterborough County City Health Unit on the final stage of the implementation of smoke-free parks be received for information.

Planning Department Presentation

 

Brian Buchardt, City of Peterborough Urban Design Planner provided an update.

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC12-016 dated May 15^th, 2012 of the Director of Community Services, as follows:

 

That a presentation on various parks and trails related projects by Brian Buchardt, the City’s Urban Design Planner, be received and that feedback be provided.

Resolution to Move into Closed Session

That Committee move into closed session to discuss one item under Municipal Act, 2001 Section 239(2)(a)  The Security Of The Property Of The Municipality Or Local Board

That Committee host a meeting at the Rugby Clubhouse, Nichols Oval Park, when appropriate.

Gary Rabjohn and Committee congratulated John Kennedy on his appointment as City Clerk.

At the request of Committee staff provided an update on the woman’s Roller Derby League and future recreation matters.

 

Ken Doherty provided an update on Arena Division matters and the policy on using sport fields in the spring.

 

 

Next Meeting

 

The next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for June 19, 2012.
