meeting of the Accessibility Advisory Committee was called to order at 4:00 p.m.

Transportation Sub-Committees to enable the inclusion of draft minutes in
agenda packages, in addition to verbal reports from the respective Chairs at
AAC meetings.

Focus Group Session with Peterborough Council on Aging

the Accessibility Advisory Committee discuss the option of participating in a
focus group session led by the Age Friendly Coordinator from the Peterborough
Council on Aging;
b)
That
the Accessibility Advisory Committee participate in the focus group session led
by the Age Friendly Coordinator; and
c)
That
a special Committee meeting be held on May 27th from 3:00 – 5:30
p.m. for the focus group session.

Operation of Accessible
Pedestrian Signals

2015 of the Accessibility Compliance Coordinator as follows:
a)
That
Report AAC15-023 with respect to general information on how accessible
pedestrian signals (APS’s) operate, be received for information.
b)
That
the AAC provide advice to the Accessibility Compliance Coordinator on the:
i)
use of the “chirp” sounds vs. The
“Canadian APS melody” for the east-west directional indication.
ii)
volume level of the APS audible features,
excluding the locating tone volume.
iii)
use of APS beaconing as a method of APS
operation.

Other Business
The Committee watched a video on Adrea
Dodsworth prepared by the YWCA.
The
Committee was reminded about the CNIB Adaptive Technology Fair taking place on
May 26th from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Lions Centre.
CPD
is hosting the 2015 Inclusion Conference May 29th at Fleming College
from
9:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. On May 30th they are hosting an Adaptive
Sports Expo at Kenner Collegiate from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Next Meeting
The
Chair indicated that the next Committee meeting will be held on June 3, 2015.
