Minutes of a Meeting of Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee Held on March 8, 2012, at the Peterborough Art Gallery, 250 Crescent Street

 

Chair Summers called the meeting to order at 7:06 p.m.

Minutes – February 9, 2012

That the minutes of the Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee meeting held on February 9, 2012 be approved.

Report ACHAC12-002

ACHAC Priorities for 2012  

 

Moved by Councillor Pappas

 

That ACHAC approve the recommendation outlined in Report ACHAC12-002 dated March 8, 2012, of the Manager, Arts, Culture & Heritage Division as follows:

 

That ACHAC provide direction on priorities/areas of interest for presentations, staff reports and possible meeting locations at the March 8, 2012 meeting.

The next scheduled meeting of ACHAC is April 12, 2012 and will be held at the Canadian Canoe Museum.  The May meeting will be hosted by Showplace.

 

The Committee requested that the following individuals be invited to attend upcoming ACHAC meetings:


 

  • Brian Bouchard, Planner Urban Design -  Charlotte Street, Civic Square, gateway welcome signage, setbacks in the downtown area
  • Brad Appleby, Planner Subdivision Control and Special Projects – Jackson Creek
  • Chris Kawalec, Community Social Plan Co-ordinator – Community Social Plan,  seniors issues
  • Mary Gallop, Manager of Facilities and Special Projects – Rogers Cove

Report ACHAC12-003

Interim Public Art Advisory Committee

 

The recommendations in Report ACHAC12-003 were separated out for discussion.

 

 

Moved by Patricia Newson

 

a)            That the Arts Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee approve the “Procedures for Public Art” report from the Interim Public Art Advisory Committee at the March 8, 2012 meeting.

Moved by Candace Shaw

 

b)           That ACHAC dissolve the Interim Public Art Advisory Committee.

Moved by Councillor Parnell

c)            That City staff begin the process to create the Public Art Advisory Committee as outlined in the Public Art Policy and the Public Art Procedures developed by the Interim Public Art Advisory Committee.

Manager Arts, Culture & Heritage Division

Report ACHAC12-004

Endorsement of the Municipal Cultural Plan

 

Moved by Councillor Pappas

 

That the Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report ACHAC12-004 dated March 8, 2012 of the Manager of Arts, Culture & Heritage as follows:

 

a)         That the Advisory Committee endorse the Municipal Cultural Plan and,

 

b)        That the Advisory Committee recommend its adoption by Council.

Other Business

 

The Chair advised that two individuals from ACHAC are required for the 2011 Civic Awards Selection Committee.  Councillor Pappas and Patricia Newson volunteered to join the 2011 Civic Awards Selection Committee.

 

A public meeting will be held April 28th, 2012 from 12:30-4:00 p.m. to discuss the proposed Cultural Council.

 

Discussion will be held at the next ACHAC meeting regarding the 2012 Arts Week.

The next scheduled meeting is April 12, 2012.
