Advisory Committee held on March 10, 2016, in the Sutherland Room, City Hall
The
meeting of the Arts, Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee was called to
order by Dennis Carter-Edwards at 7:00 p.m. in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

Disclosure of Pecuniary Interest
Councillor
Pappas and Peer Christensen declared an interest in Report ACHAC16-013 – Public
Art Initiatives Report, specifically with the DBIA mural project, as they have
both submitted applications for consideration.

outlined in Report ACHAC16-016 dated March 10, 2016, of the Manager, Arts,
Culture & Heritage Division, as follows:
That
Report ACHAC16-016 with respect to the activities of the Manager, Arts, Culture
& Heritage Division for February 2016 be received for Information.

Report ACHAC16-011
Trent Presentation

That the Arts Culture & Heritage Advisory Committee (ACHAC)
approve the recommendations outlined in Report ACHAC16-011, dated March 10,
2016 of the Director of Community Services as follows:
a)
That
a presentation by Julie Davis, Trent University’s Vice-President of External
Relations and Advancement be received and feedback be provided, and
b) That a
sub-committee be struck, consisting of Dirk Verhulst, Councillor Pappas, Bill Templeman
and Dennis Carter-Edwards, to provide comments to Trent University regarding
Traill College.

Public Art Initiatives Report
Due
to the previously declared interests of Councillor Pappas and Peer Christensen,
they did not discuss or vote on the matter.

recommendations outlined in Report ACHAC16-013, dated March 10, 2016 of the
Manager of the Arts, Culture and Heritage Division, as follows:
a) That the
presentation on possible locations for murals in the downtown by the DBIA
Project Coordinator be received for information.
b) That the ACHAC
approve the recommendations from the DBIA Site Selection Committee for the
preferred sites for the 2016 and 2017 DBIA Mural Projects.
c) That the minutes
of the January 25, 2016 and February 29, 2016 meetings of the Public Art
Initiatives Committee be received for information.

That Report ACHAC16-015 with respect
to the activities of the Heritage Preservation Office for February 2016 be
received for information.

ACHAC support the position of PACAC recommending the preservation of King
George School, and that a letter be sent to City Council from the Chair to that
effect.

2015
Civic Awards Selection Committee
Dirk
Verhulst volunteered to sit on the Committee as a representative of the ACHAC.
359 Aylmer Street
Committee
discussed the sale of 359 Aylmer Street. It was decided that no action would be
taken on behalf of the Committee.
Next Meeting
The Chair indicated that the next
scheduled meeting is April 14, 2016.
