Minutes of a Meeting of the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

 

The Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting was called to order by Diane Sargent, Vice Chair at 5:31 p.m. in the Sutherland Room.

That the minutes of the meeting of the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee held on June 21, 2016 be approved.

Community Assistance – Cameron Park

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC16-028 dated September 20, 2016, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)         That staff be directed to:

i)          Assist the representatives of the Cameron Park neighbourhood, to establish a Neighbourhood Association, with the goal of developing amenities within Cameron Park, through the Community Assistance Program; and

 

ii)         Report back to the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee once the Neighbourhood Association has been established and the details of a specific project are identified.

Presentation on the New Arena Complex Project, Phase 1 Design Update

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC16-030 dated September 20, 2016, of the Project Manager, Facilities and Planning Initiatives, as follows:

 

That the presentation by Perkins + Will on the New Arena Complex be received for information.

Report APRAC16-026

Proposal to Groom a Section of the Trans Canada Trail for Nordic Skiing

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC16-026 dated September 20, 2016, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)         That a presentation by Mr. Dave Dame, the President of the Peterborough Nordic Club be received; and

 

b)        That the request to groom the trail be referred to staff for consideration.

 

At the meeting of September 20, 2026, Committee added the following:

 

c)         That staff report back to the Committee at the October meeting for an update on the request.

That a presentation on corporate sponsorship opportunities by the City’s Corporate Sponsorship Coordinator be received.

A community meeting will be held on October 4^th regarding the Arena Complex Project.
