Minutes of a Meeting of Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee held on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

 

The Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting was called to order by Diane Sargent, Vice Chair at 5:30 p.m. in the Sutherland Room.

Corporate Risk Management Policy

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC17-013 dated April 25, 2017 of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

That the Risk Management Policy, as set out in Appendix A to report APRAC17-013, be received for information.

Report APRAC17-011

Request to Rename Olympus Park

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC17-011 dated April 25, 2017, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)         That a presentation by Mr. Steve Terry be received for information; and

 

b)        That Staff be directed to investigate the possibility of the request to rename Olympus Park, and report back to APRAC at a future meeting in 2017.

That applications to utilize City-owned land for community gardening be accepted no later than February 14^th in the year in which the garden is to be established.

That the City supply water to the four existing community gardens on City owned land that do not have a municipal water supply, via delivery of water by the Public Works water truck to on-site water storage tanks supplied by the garden coordinators.

Other Business

 

Committee asked that Scott Elliott, Corporate Sponsorship Coordinator, make a presentation at a future Committee meeting, outlining the sponsorship opportunities at the new arena facility.

 

 

Next Meeting

 

The Chair indicated that the next meeting is scheduled for May 16, 2017.
