Minutes of a Meeting of the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee held on February 4, 2016 in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

 

The meeting of the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:04 p.m. by Stewart Hamilton, Chair in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

That the PACAC receive for information an update from the Heritage Preservation Office regarding ongoing budget commitments and available reserve funds.

That the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report PACAC16-006, dated February 4, 2016 of the Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)            That the presentation from the Planner for Subdivision Control and Special Projects regarding the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan of Subdivision for 663, 689 and 730 Lily Lake Road be received for information; and

 

b)           That the PACAC provide comment on the proposed Zoning By-law Amendment and Draft Plan of Subdivision for 663, 689 and 730 Lily Lake Road.

Martha Kidd Commemoration

 

Moved by Councillor Pappas

 

That the Peterborough Architectural Conservation Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report PACAC16-009, dated February 4, 2016 of the Heritage Resources Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)            That the motions approved in Report PACAC12-047 – Funding of Special Projects of November 13, 2012, Report PACAC14-004 – Martha Kidd Commemoration January 15, 2014 and Report PACAC14-034 – Martha Kidd commemoration of October 2, 2014 as attached as Appendix A, be rescinded;

 

b)           That the existing committed funds of $10,150 be held pending the approval of a suitable alternate tribute to Martha Kidd; and

 

c)            That the ad-hoc Martha Kidd Commemoration Sub-committee (MKCSC) continue to explore the possibility of coordinating the assembly and digitization of Martha’s research for various community uses.

That the report with respect to the activities of the Heritage Preservation Office for January 2016 be received for information.

That the Chair send a letter to Trent University providing comment on the heritage value of Traill College as part of the University’s external review of that college.

2015 Civic Awards

 

Nomination packages are available on the City’s website or in the Clerk’s office.  The deadline for submissions is March 4, 2016.

 

 

YMCA Redevelopment

That PACAC accepts in principle the design for the redevelopment of 475 George Street North as issued by Atria Development Corporation for PACAC review on January 7, 2016, understanding that the 1909 gymnasium and 1932 addition will be demolished with the exception of the 1932 front entrance.  It is the expectation of the Committee that it will review final permit drawings prior to issuance, for the purpose of approving the details of the final proposed alterations to heritage attributes.

The Chair indicated that the next meeting of the Committee is scheduled for March 3, 2016.
