Minutes of a Meeting of the Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee Held on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 in the Sutherland Room, City Hall.

 

The Arenas, Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee meeting was called to order by Gary Rabjohn, Chair at 5:31 p.m. in the Sutherland Room.

Report APRAC16-033

Proposed Group Rates, for Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre

 

Moved by Councillor Haacke

 

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee endorse the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC16-033 dated October 18, 2016 of the Facility Manager, Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre, as follows:

 

a)         That the following proposed group rate structure at the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre to be implemented January 1, 2017, be endorsed:

 

i)          Group of 10 – 14 members; receive a 10% discount per membership purchased;

 

ii)         Group of 15 – 19 members, receive a 15% discount per membership purchased; and

 

iii)        Groups of 20 or more members, receive at 20% discount per membership purchased.

Report APRAC16-031

Presentation – Water Access for Community Gardens

 

Jill Bishop, Nourish, Community Food Cultivator, made a presentation to Report APRAC16-031.

 

Moved by Councillor Haacke

 

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendations outlined in Report APRAC16-031 dated October 18, 2016, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

a)         That a joint presentation on reliable water sources for all community gardens by Jill Bishop from the Peterborough Community Garden Network and Dr. Rosana Salvaterra, Medical Officer of Health and Chair of the Peterborough Food Action Network, be received; 

 

b)        That Staff be directed to initiate discussions between City Staff, the Peterborough Utilities Commission, The Nourish Project, and any other relevant parties deemed necessary to discuss options for the provision of reliable water sources at community garden sites within the City of Peterborough; and

 

c)         That staff be directed to report back to the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee in the first quarter of 2017 on the outcome of the discussions referred to in recommendation (b) of this report.

Update on Nordic Skiing Trail Grooming Proposal

That the Arenas Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee approve the recommendation outlined in Report APRAC16-032 dated October 18, 2016, of the Recreation Division Coordinator, as follows:

 

That the proposal by the Peterborough Nordic Club to groom the Trans Canada Trail within Jackson Park be respectfully declined.
